NEVS Emily GT Is Revived As EV Electra Takes The Lead

EV Electra has breathed new life into the NEVS Emily GT project, securing its path to production. NEVS, now in hibernation under Evergrande Group, showcased the impressive Emily GT prototype in April.
A Canadian EV startup, EV Electra, has now acquired the project, product lines, and associated assets, including the PONS autonomous pod. Jihad Mohammad, CEO of EV Electra, confirmed the acquisition at the eCarExpo in Gothenburg, expressing plans to commence full-scale production at NEVS's existing facility in Sweden.
Mohammad emphasized the commitment to support the project from development to mass production, citing belief in in-house production and Trollhättan's skilled personnel. The Emily GT, positioned as a direct rival to the Tesla Model S, features 105 kWh and 140 kWh battery pack options, with development nearly 18 months away from production.
The acquisition also involves the PONS autonomous city mobility system, which Mohammad sees as a key element in revolutionizing metropolitan mobility with autonomous electric vehicle technology. Both the Emily GT and PONS will be produced at the Trollhättan plant. Financial details remain undisclosed, as well as details about potential modifications to the Emily GT before it reaches production.
