Munro has unveiled a unique version of its MK_1 fully electric off-road SUV, specifically adapted to cater to the Mountain Rescue and Fire Services teams. The vehicle is built with the crucial goal of reaching individuals and fighting wildfires in the most remote and challenging terrains.

Unlike other specialized builds, the Munro MK_1 Mountain Rescue Edition keeps close to its original form. It already comes with off-road tires and excellent ground clearance. The only visible changes on the exterior include blue LED lights affixed to the back part of the roof and yellow decals on its angular bodywork.

For its rescue operations, the interior has been reconfigured to house a stretcher and an emergency kit. Munro collaborated with outdoor equipment manufacturer Lyon to source the kit bags and stretcher. The special edition model was developed in consultation with mountain rescue teams from Scotland, England, and Wales, as well as various regional Fire Services.

Under the hood, the electric powertrain remains the same as the standard MK_1, offering 375 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. This allows the vehicle to go from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds. Its 82 kWh battery pack provides a range of over 190 miles, or up to 16 hours of off-road operation, making it an ideal companion for rescue missions.

Munro currently offers the MK_1 Mountain Rescue Edition in both SUV and Pickup variants, with prices starting from £49,995 ($61,877) before taxes in the UK. According to the company, their EVs can achieve a lifespan of up to 50 years, provided they undergo routine maintenance and planned refurbishments.
