Mitsuoka M55 1st Edition Is A $50K Tribute To The Skyline
by AutoExpert | 28 March, 2025
The Mitsuoka M55 is back, and it’s got everyone talking again. After the first limited run sold out in just 10 days, Mitsuoka’s dropping a follow-up 1st Edition with way more customization options. The original M55 was pretty exclusive—one color, one trim.
Now, you’ve got 10 finishes to choose from and three different grades. You can go for a gasoline or hybrid engine, and whether you're into manuals or prefer the CVT, they’ve got you covered.
Now, let’s talk about the design. This Mitsuoka M55 1st Edition is actually a tribute to the fourth-gen Skyline (C110), though at first glance. However, when you look closer, it's pretty clear—it’s still a Honda Civic underneath all that retro charm. Whether or not it’s your style, you’ve got to give credit to Mitsuoka for thinking outside the box.

Mitsuoka had to walk a fine line with the design, especially the grille, to make sure they didn’t step on any legal toes. And the name “M55”? It’s a nod to the company’s 55th anniversary, which they celebrated in 2023. The original Zero Edition had just 100 units, but the 1st Edition is ramping things up with 250 units.

Prices start at around ¥7.5 million ($50,000) and go up to about ¥8.4 million ($56,000). Orders are already rolling in, and the cars will be delivered in 2026.

Since Honda's no longer making the Civic Coupe, the Mitsuoka M55 is based on the five-door hatchback with that sleek sloping roofline. If you’re looking for something different, this is definitely one of those cars that’ll make you do a double take!
