Mitsubishi may halt auto production in the U.S. !

As reported by "Japan's Nikkei business daily" and picked up by Reuters, Mitsubishi is considering halt of production in the US because of declining demand and a union contract that will expire.
Insiders were quoted as revealing that the shutdown of the Normal, Illinois plant is part of Mitsubishi Motors' a change in strategy to focus more on the Asian market.
The company refused to comment on the report, but said: "We are constantly reviewing our global manufacturing base, including the US plant, to maximize efficiency but we have reached no decision."
The union's contract with Mitsubishi ends in August. It is the sole Japanese-owned US automobile plant whose workforce is represented by the UAW.
In spite of closing down the facility, the company wants to further increase sales in the U.S. which were up 25% to almost 50,000 vehicles in the first half of 2015.
