Mitsubishi Airtrek Teased As The New Chinese-Built Electric SUV

The Japanese automaker has succeeded to resurrect the Airtrek for their 2021 SUV that is scheduled to arrive in showrooms by in the last months of this year. Previously, used on the 2000s models, the Airtrek badge introduced the first generation of SUVs. Later, they were chan the first generation to smooth the transition towards the Outlander models. The 20121 revive of the Airtek would be the second attempt of the manufacturer to morph towards the plug-in SUV concept.

This is another beautiful piece of art built exclusively for the Chinese market. According to Mitsubishi, the Airtrek is currently promoted as the manufacturer's e-cruising SUV. This SUV is aimed to conquer the highway in a gentle style, so, do not assume that this one will be as victorious as the Rubicon Trail SUV. Remember that this is Mitsubishi’s fourth model released this year for the Chinese market.

The carmaker gives us a spirited SUV and introduced it as an electric, expressive, and expanding vehicle. The electric characterization is pointing out the Japanese manufacturer's desire to scale up its sales. For its expressivity, we can see the mean-looking headlight approach - the headlights and DRLs split by the chrome strip and a 2019 Mi-Tech beach buggy jeep concept. Also, the company ensures its customers that the Airtrek is showing the image of advanced sophistication. Let's hope for a much striking SUV.

Since Mitsubishi did not announce the technical details, but it confirmed the presence of an octuple-motor 7400 kW hydrogen supercar proposal on their Kickstarter model, but since this Airtrek will be built in China, many people hope for a result from the Renault-Nissan joint venture. There is also a chance for a shared with Nissan Arya will share a platform.

If the rumor is true, we get an output over 389 horsepower and a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in less than 5 seconds. The Mitsubishi Airtrek remains the manufacturer's first electric SUV, despite already releasing a PHEV Outlander plug-in SUV.
