Mercedes Turned the C-Class Into a Rolling Lounge With One Giant Screen

Mercedes could have shown the outside first. Instead, it basically said, “Look at the screens,” and called it a day.
The new electric C-Class interior is one big display. Not two, not three. Just one long piece of glass stretching across the dash. Compared to the EQS, where you can still spot the separate screens, this one looks like someone forgot to hit “cut” in production. At night, though, it does look pretty slick.

If you are coming from BMW, this will feel like the opposite approach. BMW splits everything up and keeps it a bit calmer. Mercedes just stacks it all in front of you and leans into it.
And then there is the lighting. Of course there is lighting. You can even get a panoramic roof with 162 little glowing stars. It sounds like a Rolls-Royce feature, but here it is in a C-Class. If that feels like too much, you can turn it down, which is probably a good idea.
Buttons are mostly gone. You get a few on the steering wheel, and that is about it. Everything else lives in the screen, so get used to tapping and swiping.

Comfort is still a big focus. The seats can massage you, the climate system warms up faster than before, and there is an optional Burmester sound system with new speaker grilles. So while it looks like a nightclub, it is still meant to relax you.
Materials are where you can tone it down or go even further. Nappa leather with a new pattern, wood trims, carbon fiber, or even a fully vegan setup if you prefer. There is a lot to choose from.
Since it is electric, it is also quieter. Mercedes worked on sound insulation, added laminated glass, and made the air-con system quieter. So you get all the lights and screens, but less outside noise.
Mercedes calls it a “personal retreat.” That might be pushing it a bit. It feels more like a lounge with a giant tablet glued to the dashboard. If you like that kind of thing, you will probably love it. If not, this might feel like a bit much.
