Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Edition 100 Is An Exceptionally Rare Birthday Present

While DaimlerChrysler failed to compete with luxury automakers like Rolls-Royce and Bentley, Mercedes-Benz didn't abandon the Maybach brand. To start things over again in 2014, the three-pointed star created Mercedes-Maybach, a new sub-brand dedicated to the extra-long S-Class and other special projects like the crazy G650 Landaulet and luxurious S650 Cabriolet. Now, it's time for a new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Edition 100.

In the same way that the EQS electric sedan will produce an EQS SUV with the double M emblem in 2023, the aristocratic S-Class now has an SUV mate in the Maybach GLS. Meanwhile, Daimler is commemorating Maybach's centennial, even though the first production automobile was built 100 years ago.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Edition 100 is its most opulent vehicle yet, surpassing even the extravagant Pullman variants. Because it's built on the most powerful V12 model available, it has 621-hp and all-wheel drive for the first time. It also comes in a glamorous sedan body painted in silver and nautical blue trim.

Due to its limited production status, Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Edition 100 has a custom-made "Edition 100" inscription on its gray rims instead of the regular silver ones. The C-pillars are adorned with distinctive decals, and a custom car cover is included as well. There's Crystal White and Silver Gray Pearl leather upholstery inside the Maybach S-Class, the model's crowning achievement.

You'll receive everything from a "noise-insulated first-class back compartment" to a Burmester 4D surround sound system for your money's worth. In addition to heated and massaging seats, the interior of Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Edition 100 is adorned with "Edition 100" inscriptions.

A total of 100 units will be made, with some of those going to the United States in the following year. For yet, there is no word on price, but based on the starting price of Germany's normal Maybach V12-powered S680 sedan, you can guess that it will be quite pricey.
