Mercedes Finally Gives Its Electric GLC a Face Worth Looking At
by AutoExpert | 6 August, 2025
Looks like Mercedes is finally done making electric cars that look like soap bars. After years of playing it safe with smooth, forgettable designs, they’ve just dropped a teaser for the new electric GLC.
The big headline? The grille. Not usually something to get excited about on an EV, but hear this: if you check the right box on the options list, the GLC comes with 942 light-up LEDs that animate when you walk up. The badge glows too, naturally.

Design chief Gordon Wagener even says this grille “redefines the face of the brand.” Sounds like PR fluff, but honestly? He might be onto something.

First out of the gate is the GLC 400 4Matic. It’s built on 800-volt architecture, which means ultra-fast charging: 162 miles in just 10 minutes, as long as you find the right plug. Even better, it supports both 800V and 400V charging from day one. No future updates or "coming soon" nonsense.

Honestly, this feels like the EV Mercedes should’ve built a couple of years ago. Now the question is—will the rest of the car live up to the grille?
