Mercedes has launched the new C-Class and S-Class models, but has forgotten a little about its most popular model: the E-Class. But things are about to change in 2016.

The German car producer has managed to sell over 13 million E-Class cars in the entire world up until now.

The new rival of BMW 5 Series will be presented in January, at the Detroit Auto Showroom. The range will include 4 chassis versions, which will be launched gradually.

The first model will have 4 doors, followed by a break version. All in 2016. 2017 will be the year when Mercedes will be introducing the 2 doors-coupe, followed by a convertible version.

The new E-Class will have some similarities with the C-Class and the S-Class when it comes to their design. The platform will definitely be borrowed from the S range, which makes it longer and wider than the previous models.

The lights will be using 84 individual LEDs and all the necessary info will be found on 2 HD board displays. Some hybrid versions might also be developed, which would be a premiere in the model's history. But no worries for the AMG fans, because this version is a must and it will be equipped with a twin-turbo V8, of 4 liters. It will be able to reach 600 hp, outrunning the BMW M5, which can develop only 525 hp.

The security systems will be the newest possible, with a camera network, sensors, and radar systems that will guide the car throughout the traffic. The system will be able to accelerate and decelerate.

There will also be an Active Brake Assist system, Evasive Steering Assist, Car-to-X Communication, and Mercedes-Benz PRE-SAFE technology, all of them meant to help avoid the accidents.

And the driver will be able to use his smartphone as a car key, thanks to the Digital Car Keys system.
