Mercedes Bids Farewell To The G500 V8 With A Special Edition

The origins of the Mercedes G-Class can be traced back to the early 1970s when the carmaker first developed it as a military vehicle. In 1993, Mercedes made a significant change by partnering with AMG to introduce V8 power to the G-Wagen, resulting in the creation of the 500 GE.

Mercedes is currently commemorating the G500's significant anniversary by producing a limited edition of 1,500 SUVs known as the "Final Edition," three decades after its initial release. The sad news is the G500's twin-turbo V8 will no longer be available.

The G500 will come in metallic obsidian black, Manufaktur opalith white magno, or Manufaktur olive magno. Each of these choices is restricted to a total of 500 units. The Final Edition badge, 20-inch wheels with a double-five-spoke design, door sills, passenger grab handle, and spare wheel cover are included.

Additionally, when the SUV is not moving, lights located in the base of each door mirror portray the words "Stronger Than Time" onto the pavement. The 4.0-liter V8 remains the same, but it now delivers a more powerful performance with 416 hp compared to the original 500 GE, which had only 237 hp. You can now place an order for the G500 Final Edition, which is priced at €196,350 ($215k) in Germany.

As for the new G63 Grand Edition, it has a price tag of €228,896 ($251k), with only one thousand units being produced. Every model is equipped with 22-inch center-lock forged AMG wheels, front and rear bumper additions, a front skid plate, a spare wheel ring, Manufaktur night black magno with gold visuals, and stitching on the seats.

Mercedes

The CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Michael Schiebe, showed how happy he was with the G63's continued success by releasing the unique and rare Grand Edition. Schiebe says that this special version is a celebration of the G63's amazing journey so far and a hint at more accomplishments to come.
