In Shanghai, Mercedes-AMG unveiled the GT 63 S E Performance, a highly anticipated vehicle. With 805 hp from a biturbo V8 engine and a rear-mounted electric motor, this flagship plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is the fastest and most powerful AMG GT to date.

With a time of 2.8 seconds to go from 0 to 62 mph, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance beats out even the AMG One hypercar by 0.1 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating series production vehicle ever, according to AMG.

Mercedes-AMG GT PHEV

The GT 63 S E Performance's maximum speed of 199 mph is 20 mph less than the Formula One-inspired hypercar. The hybrid unit outperforms the previous generation AMG GT Black Series by a significant margin, with a combined output of 805 horsepower and an insane 797–1,047 lb-ft of potential system torque.

Outperforming the AMG GT 63's 577 horsepower, the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine produces 603 hp. The E Performance variant has an electric motor located at the back, which increases the power output by 201 horsepower. The AMG Performance 4Matic+ system, which is entirely variable, transfers power to all four wheels using a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT 9G gearbox.

A mechanical limited-slip differential improves performance at the back axle, and a two-speed gearbox controls the electric motor. The most powerful ceramic composite brakes on the market, an AMG Active Ride Control suspension with semi-active roll stabilization and rear axle steering, and eight different driving modes accessible via the AMG Dynamic Select switch are all standard on this flagship model, which is known for its abundance of performance-oriented features.

Electric, Battery Hold, Comfort, Slippery, Sport, Sport+, Race, and Individual modes are all part of the package. The back axle positions the 6.1 kWh lithium-ion battery for optimal weight distribution, featuring a novel direct cooling system. For those who like to use it as a pure PHEV, a completely charged battery provides a range of 8 miles with no emissions. In addition, the top level of the four regenerative braking modes enables one-pedal driving, much like electric vehicles.

Mercedes-AMG GT PHEV

The AMG GT 63 S E Performance is the brand's fourth offering, joining the V8-powered GT 53 and 63 as well as the base four-cylinder GT 43. The PHEV engine requires modifications to the standard active aerodynamics, which include a front underbody and a rear spoiler. With the Manufaktur program, you may personalize almost every aspect of your vehicle, including the electrically adjustable AMG sports seats that come with three massaging programs.

Similar to its four-door GT sibling, the E Performance has hybrid-specific displays on the MBUX infotainment system. We will disclose the price of the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance in the following months as we approach the market debut.
