Meet The Sojourn: Arcade Cars' Stunning Restomod Of The Mercedes-Benz 230 GE

British startup Arcade Cars has just rolled out an incredible restomod of the Mercedes-Benz 230 GE, blending the practicality of a modern G-Class with the vintage charm of the original. Meet the Sojourn—an all-electric version of the classic long-wheelbase G-Class (W460), available with various powertrains.

Interestingly, Arcade sources these vehicles from the Swiss Army, so all Sojourns are two-door, soft-top models. If you go for the base model, you’ll get the classic 2.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, delivering 125 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels.

But if you want more power, Arcade offers an upgraded 2.8-liter straight-six engine from the modernized 280 GE. This engine comes with a new crankshaft, pistons, and rods, producing 149 horsepower and 175 Newton meters of torque—just a bit more than the original. Arcade is also partnering with Everrati, a British company renowned for its EV conversions of classic cars like the 964 Porsche 911, the 'Pagoda' Mercedes-Benz SL, and the Ford GT40, to develop an electric variant of the Sojourn.

Inside the Sojourn, future owners can choose between premium leathers or Alcantara for the upholstery. The restomod also features a modern sound system with a hidden subwoofer and an infotainment display.

After its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours, initial deliveries of the Sojourn are expected later this year, with prices starting at $130,000. Arcade is also offering the Lion, an open-top two-seater based on Mercedes 240 GD vehicles (sourced from the Singaporean Army).

Looking ahead, Arcade plans to release the Shadow, an electric version of the classic F-body Porsche 911 and 912. This model will use a Tesla Model S engine and Volkswagen-sourced batteries, boasting a range of around 250 miles, DC fast-charging capability, and the ability to accelerate to 62 mph in under 5 seconds. So, if you're in the market for a vintage G-Class with modern amenities or an electrified classic Porsche, Arcade Cars has got you covered!
