You may have heard that as of 2021, World Endurance Championship Hypercar class vehicles must adhere to new regulations, such as a maximum power output of 670 horsepower and a minimum weight of 2,270 pounds. Cadillac wants to get involved, too.

They've named their new hypercar Project GTP Hypercar, and it'll be competing in this new series with BMW and others. "Cadillac will be competing again on the world racing stage, and we are all thrilled to return to Le Mans after 20 years," remarked Global Cadillac Vice President Rory Harvey.

Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing, and Dallara were responsible for the creation of the Project GTP Hypercar. It combines essential design features with parts of the brand's past. The new GTP is meant to resemble a Cadillac, but one that is extremely low and incredibly quick.

To win at Le Mans is the main aspiration for everyone competing in the World Endurance Championship's new Hypercar class. Laura Wontrop Klauser, GM's Sports Car Racing Program Manager, stated, "The entire team is excited to continue building Cadillac's racing legacy by competing against the very best internationally and in the world's toughest race."

The Project GTP Hypercar will be driven by a brand-new 5.5-liter V8 engine combined with the mandatory LMDh hybrid technology for the class. After the GTP's formal track debut, Cadillac claims to have some surprises in store. Chris Mikalauskas, Caddy's Chief Exterior Designer, adds, "We have plenty more to come, from the upcoming race car to amazing production vehicles."
