The newest player in China's SUV market is the iCar V23, a brand-new electric vehicle that Chery and Zhimi Technology, a Xiaomi-owned company, allegedly created. After this year's iCar 03 SUV, the Chery-owned firm will release the iCar V23 later this year.

The new SUV is shorter than its older brother, with shorter overall dimensions: 166.1 inches in length, 75.4 inches in width, 72.6 inches in height, and 107.5 inches in wheelbase.

Identical to the Land Cruiser FJ40 in appearance are the round LED headlights, grille, and hood intake up front, as are the boxy fenders at the front and back. However, it looks like a Jeep Wrangler because of its flat windshield and front bumper. The Land Rover Defender seems to have served as an inspiration for the profile's basic surface and side gills.

When planning the back end, iCar looked to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class for inspiration, particularly with regard to the low-mounted LED taillights. A big touchscreen screen, a steering wheel reminiscent of a Defender, rectangular air conditioning vents, and a mix of black and white leather upholstery characterize the cabin, which is characteristic of contemporary electric vehicles. Level 2+ ADAS functionality will be supported by the array of sensors that are neatly incorporated around the bodywork.

The SUV may be equipped with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. According to rumors, the iCar V23 will be available with either a single electric motor or two electric motors and run on CATL battery packs. Reportedly, the all-wheel-drive model will have a range of over 249 miles, while the rear-wheel-drive model will have a range of more than 311 miles.

The iCar V23 is expected to make its official debut at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show after a comprehensive unveiling on April 12. In the latter part of the year, it will be unveiled in China. Competition will come mostly from SAIC, Wulling, and GM's Baojun Yep Plus, which are all around the same size.
