According to an announcement from Alfa Romeo, the top-tier Veloce trim of the Alfa Romeo Junior (formerly the Milano) now has a whopping 278 horsepower in addition to the already impressive 237 horsepower. The automaker claims that "tests have shown the electric motor’s output to be a healthy 280 CV, aligning it with the performance of the Giulia, Stelvio, and Tonale Veloce models."

Additionally, the carmaker released the torque figure of the electric motor, which is a decent 255 lb-ft) Let us be clear: there is a considerable gap between 237 and 278 horsepower.

Originally, the Junior Veloce was supposed to have a single electric motor like the Abarth 600e and the Lancia Ypsilon HF supermini. The Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce boasts the most powerful electric powertrain, a suspension 1 inch lower than other trims, front and rear anti-roll bars, a Torsen differential on the front axle, and a pair of more sticky 20-inch tires.

Alfa Romeo touts the steering as "the most direct in the segment," while the front discs measure 15 inches in diameter and feature four-piston monobloc calipers. The Junior now has what Alfa Romeo calls class-leading driving qualities, comparable to those of the now-defunct Giulietta and Mito hatchbacks, according to the automaker.

The Alfa Romeo Junior will not go through the type-approval phase until it has been through its initial press testing at the Balocco Proving Ground. Alfa Romeo has announced that journalists will get their first taste of racing on the track's 12-mile Langhe layout.
