ME.WE - the new Toyota concept car with a plastic body!

Toyota unveiled today the first images of the concept, designed in collaboration between the European Toyota's design department and Jean-Marie Massaud, a creative designer, famous for her visionary projects.

These partners have started to work in July 2011 and have developed an electric use car with a polypropylene body, designed to change the way the public and carmakers see the use cars. Technically speaking, the ME.WE concept has a mass of 750 kg, an electric motor for each wheel, an aluminum chassis and a spacious cabin.

The model has a length of 3,440 millimeters, a width of 1,750 millimeters and a height of 1,600 millimeters. The surprise is a polypropylene body, with panels that have a cumulative weight of 14 kg. ME.WE`s chassis is made of aluminum tubes, inspired by motorsport, which helps to increase the model`s strength and ensures a minimized mass.

The floor integrates the electric motor`s batteries in order to avoid the luggage congestion with it. The whole interior is ordered around the passengers and the rear seat can be folded and stored under the front seats. In addition, customers will be able to remove and use both banquets as picnic seats. For now, ME.WE is only at the stage of "a vision of the future electric use cars."
