Mazda2 Hybrid Is A Toyota Yaris That Has Been Rebadged For The European Market

It is with great pleasure to announce the arrival of the Mazda2 Hybrid, a rebadged Toyota Yaris for the European market.  With a release date set for spring of 2022, the new self-charging hybrid Mazda2 will be on sale alongside the already well-established 2002 Mazda2.

From last year's rumors, as well as a disguised prototype found a few months ago, we already knew Mazda was working on its own hybrid version of the Toyota Yaris. The ultimate product, except the emblems, is nearly identical to the Yaris. The vehicle is built on the TNGA-B chassis, with a length of 3,940 mm (155.1 inches) and a wheelbase of 2,550 mm (100.4 inches).

Toyota's newest self-charging hybrid powertrain has a combined output of 114 hp (85 kW / 116 PS) and torque of 169 Nm (125 lb-ft). A naturally aspirated 1,490 cc three-cylinder engine with 91 hp (68 kW / 92 PS), a 79 hp (59 kW / 80 PS) electric motor coupled to the front wheels, and a second electric engine for starting the engine and charging the lithium-ion battery pack make up the system.

Mazda2 Hybrid can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 9.7 second, but its combined WLTP fuel efficiency of 3.8-4.0 lt/100km (74.3-70.6 mpg UK / 61.9-58.8 mpg-US) is even more amazing. Depending on whether the automobile has 15′′ or 16′′ wheels, CO2 emissions range from 87 to 93 g/km. Pure, Agile, and Select are the three trim options available for the Mazda2 Hybrid.
