Maserati's Electrifying Future: Quattroporte EV Confirmed for 2028

Confirming some of last week's reports regarding Quattroporte Folgore’s delayed development, Maserati brought to light more information regarding its EV strategy. It is now official that the sedan’s electric version is scheduled to launch in 2028, but other battery-powered models should arrive before that.

The first in line to debut is GranCabrio Folgore, which is planned to be unwrapped later this year -  right after its internal combustion engine counterpart. The company's ambition regarding its electric journey expands far beyond 2024, with a zero-emissions version of the MC20 due in 2025. Before the avant-garde Quattroporte Folgore debuts in 2028, an EV SUV - probably a BEV version of Levante - will land in 2027.

Davide Grasso, Maserati CEO, commented that the brand moves on full speed towards a significant change in electrification with two of their iconic models already available for purchase in their 100 percent electric versions, and another on the way this year.

The two electric vehicles are the Gran Turismo Folgore and Grecale Folgore, both being already on sale in the European Union. Maserati, under Stellantis's tutoring, became the leading Italian brand that focuses on the production and development of EV vehicles. The Italian brand takes part in the 2023 Formula E.

Automaker’s electrifying ambition is part of Stellantis Dare Forward 2023 strategic campaign, unveiled on March 1, 2022. The strategy places the luxury brand as a fully-fledged component within the organization matrix, warranting that all the latest models from the marque will feature electric powertrains.

However, not everything goes right and bright for Maserati. Rumors are that Stellantis will temporarily fire around 1.000 production workers at the firm's Mirafiori factory in Turin, Italy, from February 12 to March 3.
