Lotus-Based Radford Type 62-2 Boasts A Retro-Styled Interior

Earlier this year, Radford debuted the Type 62-2, a limited-edition coupe with a heritage-inspired style. The interior, however, was not shown. Radford has now disclosed the interior of the car, which is a mix of antique aesthetic elements and cutting-edge technology that aficionados will adore.

The cockpit of Radford Type 62-2 appears to be from another age. The driver is seated behind a chunky three-spoke steering wheel, the shift linkage is visible, and a pair of Bremont gauges are mounted on the passenger-side dash.

At a closer look, consumers can see what they'd expect from a modern vehicle. A digital instrument panel with a design that may be customized by the purchaser can be found behind the steering wheel. The footage from the cameras that substitute the external mirrors is displayed on screens on either side of the dash, and a phone dock that doubles as a wireless charger is buried below the construction plate on the center stack.

Classic, Gold Leaf, and John Player Special are the three basic trim levels available to buyers. Each will have a distinct design based on previous Lotus race car liveries, although owners will be able to customize their car to their exact specifications. The motor, a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 will remain unchanged.

Due to a custom supercharger, it produces around 430 hp in the Classic model, around 500 in the Gold Leaf, and around 600 in the John Player Special when mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Radford Type 62-2 will be produced in 62 units, with construction beginning in 2021. In early 2022, deliveries will commence. The price hasn't been revealed, but don't anticipate a discount for this unique British coupe almost entirely handmade.
