The Lightyear 0 is a new electric automobile from the Dutch company Lightyear. In addition to getting in-wheel engines and an aerodynamic shape, the EV will be wrapped in solar panels. The 0's manufacturing will begin this fall, according to Lightyear. It goes on to say that the first delivery might happen as soon as November.

Lightyear has endeavored to create the most energy-efficient EV imaginable. The vehicle's form results in a drag coefficient of 0.19, making it the most aerodynamic family car on the market when it is released. It's also quite light, weighing only 3,472 pounds.

The vehicle's 54 square feet of double-curved solar panels allow it to charge whenever it is exposed to sunlight. The manufacturer says that the car can go up to 6,835 miles annually on solar power. It can regenerate up to 43 miles of range each day under ideal conditions.

Taking solar charging out of the equation, the car is expected to have a WLTP range of 388 miles per charge.
At 68 miles per hour, the automobile can go 348 miles. This is due to the vehicle's aerodynamics and extremely efficient motors mounted in the wheels. The company says that its powertrain is now the most energy-efficient in an EV, consuming only 10.5 kWh every 62 miles at highway speeds.

As for the interior, the Lightyear 0 will include a 10.1-inch touchscreen that can be upgraded wirelessly. The materials will be 100% vegan, using fabrics acquired from natural sources. There is a cost to all of it. The Lightyear 0 will cost €250,000 (USD 263,243) and only 946 will be built per year, according to the carmaker.
