Lexus RZ 300e Arrives As The New Entry-Level EV In Japan

Expanding its Lexus RZ lineup in Japan, the company has introduced the RZ 300e, an entry-level model positioned below the RZ 450e. Diverging from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, the Lexus RZ 300e opts for a single front-mounted motor, producing 201 hp and 196 lb-ft of torque.

According to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure, the RZ 300e has a range of 372 miles when using a 71.4 kWh battery pack.

This figure applies to models with 18-inch wheels, with the larger 20-inch wheels expected to reduce the range. Complementing the new powertrain, the Lexus RZ 300e features a retuned suspension with enhancements such as a new rear member, optimized springs, stabilizers, and shock absorbers.

Lexus emphasizes that these changes maintain comfort and agility while capitalizing on the 220-pound weight difference between the RZ 300e and RZ 450e. Priced at ¥8,200,000 in Japan, the Lexus RZ 300e is ¥600,000 less than its RZ 450e counterpart.

Additionally, both RZ models will now be equipped with a battery rapid heating system to expedite recharging in cold temperatures. Looking ahead, Lexus plans to introduce the RZ to nine new countries and regions, including Central and South America.
