Leaked Images Show The Awaited 2022 Audi Q5 e-tron

We spotted a disguised prototype of an electric SUV from Audi a few days ago, and now China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released online the first shots of the car. The variant shown in Shanghai is known as the Q5 e-tron, and it will be available in China just before the close of the year.

Audi Q5 e-tron, like the Audi Q4 e-tron, is built on VW Group's MEB chassis. With a length of 4,876 mm (192 inches), it is close to its Volkswagen ID.6 brother, offering more internal room and usability.

With a covered single-frame grille framed by darker trim, it reflects Audi's modern look and feel. The headlights, taillights, and fender contours are similar to those on the Q4 e-tron, but the 2022 Q5 e-tron appears to be less muscular and more family-oriented.

Different trim options with a range of wheel shapes and an extra blacked-out coating for the plastic cladding surrounding the bodywork are shown in the leaked photos.

Spy photographers captured interior pictures that show a digital cockpit and a floating center console that appear to be identical to the Q4 e-tron. This implies it'll come with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and an 11.6-inch multimedia touchscreen. The interior could have a three-row configuration with up to seven seats.

There will be three engine alternatives. The 35 e-tron with 177 hp (132 kW / 180 PS) and the 40 e-tron with 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) will have a single rear-wheel-drive engine. Premium 50 e-tron will have a dual-motor setup, with a front-wheel-drive 107 hp (80 kW / 109 PS) electric engine and a rear-wheel-drive 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) electric engine.

According to China's NEDC cycle, all variations will most likely get the stronger 77 kWh battery, which in the ID.6 offers sufficient power for up to 588 km (365 miles).

We anticipate hearing more about 2022 Audi Q5 e-tron during its upcoming official debut. The EV, like the domestically-built Volkswagen ID.6, will be on sale in China around the end of 2021, although it is unlikely to be exported.

Audi will soon unveil the Q6 e-tron in the United States and Europe, which will share the more expensive PPE design with the next-generation pure electric Porsche Macan. This model, along with a facelifted variant of the much larger e-tron premium SUV, is planned for the second half of 2022.
