Le Mans-Style Porsche 911 GT3 For Paolo Barilla

For the first time, Porsche has demonstrated the breadth and depth of its new automobile personalization service with a one-of-a-kind Porsche 911 GT3 colored in the same paint scheme as one of Porsche's Le Mans-winning 956 racing cars.

This bespoke Porsche 911 GT3 was intended for former racing driver Paolo Barilla, who triumphed at La Sarthe in 1986 in an unmistakably 956. It is the first car to be created as part of the brand's resurrected Sonderwunsch (special wishes) campaign. The black, white, and yellow color scheme of the Team Joest car was well-known at the time. 

The number 7 - Barilla's racing number - is prominently displayed on the GT3's livery, along with special badges featuring the driver's name. The color-contrasting front and rear wheels, with the white front rims resembling the "aeroblade" wheel covers, are also nods to the Porsche 956.

Experts from the series-produced 911 GT3 were invited in to help implement the unique curved end plates on the rear spoiler, ensuring that the aerodynamic performance remained stable. The gearshifter has been replaced with a milled aluminum gear lever influenced by the 956's compact magnesium ball. The headrests include special motifs commemorating the car's victory at Le Mans in 1985, with extra congratulatory insignia on the sill plates and dash.

The effort took three years from start to finish, with the 991.2-generation 911 GT3 serving as the foundation. On his 60th birthday, Barilla picked up the automobile.
