Land Rover Defender With 450 HP Powered By Tesla

Land Rover plans to release an all-electric Range Rover in 2024, but ECD Automotive, a Florida-based business that focuses on premium Land Rover restomods, has already done it. The electric restomod therapy is now being applied to the original Land Rover Defender 110. 

As a reminder, the world's first Tesla-powered Range Rover was unveiled by ECD Automotive earlier this year. The electric SUV is equipped with a single electric engine that produces 450 hp and is based on the original Range Rover Classic. Currently, Project Britton and Project Morpheus are two electric Defender 110 restomods that ECD Automotive is actively working on.

Although these aren't the first electric Defender restomods, they are the first to be built in the United States. Both Defenders will have a 100 kWh battery pack that can be recharged in 5 hours. These electric Defenders will have a distance of up to 220 miles on a single tank, and the Tesla engine will generate 450 hp, allowing them to go from 0-60 mph in less than 5 secs.

From start to finish, each restored Defender is brought from the UK and reconstructed to the customer's wishes. ECD also manufactures Defender retromods with high-performance LS3 and LC9 motors from General Motors. There has been a lot of interest for ECD to manufacture electric restomods since adding Tesla drivetrains to the list of options, with 14 already on order.
