Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Coupe Recall Starts In April This Year

NTHSA is not taking a break and this time investigated Lamborghini’s report about the 2018-2021 Aventador SVJ Coupe's matter.  This time there’s the possibility to ask the owners to take it to dealers for repairs due to its 100 % estimated defect rate.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conducted an investigation upon 221 units of the Aventador SVG Coupe built between July 4, 2018, and January 15, 2021. The investigation revealed a 100% estimated defect rate, which is alarming.

The main problem is that due to the excessive heat, the engine hood hinge plastic elements deform and dangerously affect the torque in the retaining screws. The danger is that at high speed, under strong vertical and longitudinal acceleration, the hood could literally flip open without any warnings and detaches from the vehicle.

Fortunately, no accidents or injuries were reported so far, but they become aware of the danger in January this year, a dealership reported that a possible situation occurred in France with the model’s rear engine. The automaker immediately took the matter into their hands, started a thorough investigation in February and presented the satiation at the Product Safety Committee, and together decided to announce a recall for the Aventador SVJ Coupe.

Further steps would be for the dealers to inform the customers via notification in April and after the received notification, the owner would call Lamborghini’s Customer Service or NHTSA for the next steps.
