Lada Showcases New Generations Of Niva-Inspired LCVs

Despite the European Union's sanctions, which have generated a crisis in the Russian auto industry, state-owned Avtovaz has came up with something new for the Russian market.

The most recent instance is the Lada Niva Legend, which has recently been modified to provide LCV variations in the form of single-cab and dual-cab box vans. The LCVs' primary upgrade is a tougher frame that doubles their load capacity.

Lada also included reinforcements that are also present in fire trucks and rescue vehicles built on the Niva platform. Thus, the commercial vehicles can now carry anywhere from 1,411 pounds to 1,764 pounds, an increase of up to 407 pounds.

There are variants of the Niva LCV, some with two seats and a huge cargo box in the rear, others with five seats and a more modest fiberglass cargo space. The company provides options such as refrigerators, vans with insulated cargo spaces, and customized versions with heavy-duty suspension.

Both the wheelbase and overall length of the LCVs are fixed at 112.2 inches and 174.8 inches, respectively, regardless of body style. The height ranges from 69.7 to 78.7 inches due to the various cargo box forms, while the ground clearance is either 8.1 or 9.5 inches, respectively.

The Niva LCV lineup is driven by a naturally aspirated 1.7-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that generates 82 horsepower and 95 lb-ft of torque. Prices range from $16,660 for the base LCV trim to $24,843 for the top-of-the-line refrigerator.
