Kia Electric EV6 Crossover Will Come To American Customers Next Year

In March this year, Kia made the Wild decision to go globally with its new EV6 crossover. Next year, the automaker promised to reach the US dealerships following the First Edition launch model to open on June 3. The electric vehicle comes with a special trim package, a dual-motor AWD drivetrain, a larger 77.4 kWh battery pack that brings along an estimated 300 miles of range.

The First Edition will have 20-inch wheels with black wheel arches, augmented reality heads-up display, remote parking, a wide sunroof, Meridian 14-speaker sound, and a two-year Sirius XM subscription. The three-color combinations available should be enough joggling between the Steel Gray Matte with black seats, Urban Yellow with black seats, or the Glacier white with funky dark green seats.

The interior is fully eco-vegan-friendly. You’ll find plastics made out of recycled materials - slim front seats made of high-strength “giga-steel”. The cargo space is offering a 27.7 cubic feet space behind the rear seats, and 53.5 cubic feet behind the front seats. As for the infotainment systems, you’ll find a 12-inch TFT curved infotainment screen, wireless smartphone charging, and vehicle status updates via Android and Apple smartwatches.

The “First Edition” badge can be spotted on the illuminated door sills followed by other badges on the interior for a silent stand-out and supporter of the limited-edition nature of the package. By the end of 2022, Kia wants to deliver a bigger 77.4 kWh battery for its EV6 GT drivers. The First Edition variant claims to perform up to 313 horsepower, while combined with the AWD GT motors the drivers might get the impressive 576 horsepower, reaching the 0-60 time (96 km/h) sprint from the standard model of 5.1 seconds lowered down to 3.5 seconds.

Kia might even keep its promises of the battery’s 800V charging capabilities which on DC fast-chargers should deliver almost 70 miles of range in less than 5 minutes. Tests reveal a 10-80% charge - almost 210 miles of range - in just 18 minutes.

To meet the customer’s demand, Kia will make available options - the adaptive cruise control that can read speed limit signs, and slow down for sharp bends. There’s all about the safety tech features, including surround-view monitor, parking collision avoidance, rear-occupant alert, remote parking, blind-spot monitor, driver attention warning, forward collision avoidance, high-beam assist, and more. More details on prices will be announced later.
