Jeep Restores Automatic Transmission To 2025 Wrangler V6

Months ago, Jeep made waves by announcing the 2025 Wrangler four-door with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 would only come with a six-speed manual, dropping the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic. The move didn’t sit well with fans, and Jeep has now reversed course, bringing the automatic option back for the V6.

Jeep has now attributed the return of the eight-speed to the enthusiasm of the Jeep community, despite never explaining its initial removal. The six-speed manual remains standard, while the automatic is available as a $4,500 option, the same price as before.

“In response to enthusiastic requests, we’re reintroducing the eight-speed automatic transmission for V6 Wrangler models, underscoring our commitment to freedom of choice, performance, and versatility for every adventure,” said Bob Broderdorf, Jeep North America’s senior VP.

The return of the automatic aligns the V6 with the rest of the Wrangler lineup, as the same eight-speed transmission is used across the board—from the 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid in the Wrangler 4xe to the beastly 6.4-liter HEMI V8 in the Wrangler 392.
