Jeep Announces 2024 Wagoneer And Grand Wagoneer With Twin-Turbo Inline-Six, Bids Farewell To V8s

Jeep has officially announced that the 2024 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models will no longer feature V8 engines. The entire Wagoneer family is set to embrace a twin-turbo inline-six engine going forward. This move marks the end of the road for the V8s that were available in previous model years.

The standard Wagoneer, which previously offered a 5.7-liter HEMI V8, will now be equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane inline-six engine generating 420 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque.

Jeep emphasizes that this engine is up to 15% more efficient than the outgoing V8, a noteworthy improvement for a vehicle that doesn't excel in fuel economy. Similarly, the 2024 Grand Wagoneer will also shift to an inline-six-only configuration, featuring the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine but with an upgraded power output of 510 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque.

The change in the Grand Wagoneer lineup includes the removal of the Series II trim from the previous year, making way for a new mid-level trim named Obsidian. The Obsidian trim will come standard with Jeep's Obsidian package, incorporating features like piano black trim, black interior accents, gloss black exterior trim, and 22-inch polished wheels with black inserts.

Despite these modifications, the rest of the Wagoneer family remains unchanged, preserving the qualities that have made it a standout choice. Therefore, the Wagoneer continues to offer an impressive driving experience.
