Mazda has unveiled the facelifted MX-5 in Japan, marking the latest refresh for the Mazda MX-5 ND since its initial introduction in 2014. The updates encompass various areas of the MX-5's design and technology. The headlights now boast new full-LED graphics, incorporating daytime running lights.

Additionally, the front bumper has received slight modifications, including the integration of a new radar sensor on the grille.

Mazda has also introduced fresh designs for the alloy wheels and expanded the available color choices, including the new Aero Gray Metallic shade. Inside, the 2024 Mazda MX-5 receives an upgraded Mazda Connect infotainment system with an 8.8-inch touchscreen, enhancing connectivity features.

Furthermore, a couple of new Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have been introduced, namely Mazda Radar Cruise Control and Smart Brake Support. Mazda offers a new variant called the Mazda Roadster S Leather Package V Selection, featuring a beige convertible top and sporty tan Nappa leather seats.

The cabin is accented with matching-color synthetic leather, and it includes a set of brightly finished 16-inch aluminum wheels. Under the hood, the updated MX-5 remains available in Japan with 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G powertrains, both of which have received mild updates. The 1.5-liter engine gets a modest power bump of 4 hp, now producing 133 hp and improving efficiency.

The 2.0-liter unit maintains its 181 hp but benefits from new software for enhanced response. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Manual versions now feature an asymmetric limited-slip differential on the rear axle for better stability. The electric power steering has received a revised setup, and manual vehicles get a new DSC-Track mode that reduces Dynamic Stability Control intervention for track driving.

Pricing varies depending on factors such as powertrain, body style, and grade, ranging from ¥2,898,500 ($19,467) to ¥4,308,700 ($28,938). This represents an increase of approximately ¥200,000–300,000 ($1,300–2,000) compared to equivalent trims of the outgoing model. The facelifted Mazda MX-5 is expected to start deliveries in mid-January 2024.
