In the last years, Ford Bronco has unquestionably been one of the most praised vehicles on the market. Ford is progressively launching more upgraded versions to meet up with the demands. The carmaker has unveiled the Ford Bronco DR, the long-awaited V8 Ford Bronco teased by the company's CEO Jim Farley just hours before.

The DR stands for Desert Runner, which makes sense as the Ford Bronco DR was developed to compete in the Baja 1000. The Bronco DR's Coyote 5.0-liter V8 motor produces over 400 hp, which will excite all Bronco fans.

All four wheels get power from a 10R80 gearbox and an F-150-derived electric shift on the fly transfer case.  To maximize the Coyote V8's torque, the front and back differentials are electrically locked. Ford Bronco DR will be 6,200 lbs and have an approaching and departure angle of 47 and 37 degrees, respectively, and a break-over angle of 33 degrees.

Ford Bronco DR has 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 all-season tires and 17-inch Beadlock wheels with enhanced Krawl-TEK material and linear flex area sidewalls for traction. The cockpit has a proper safety cage, race bucket seats, and a Motec display unit.

The outside is made of resin transfer molded fiberglass panels, but elements like glass windows and air-con have been eliminated to save weight. Ford claims the Bronco DR will race in the 2022 SCORE Baja 1000 and the first 50 cars will be sold for around $200,000.
