Hyundai has finally taken the wraps off its electric SUV, the Ioniq 9. Think of it as Hyundai’s answer to the Kia EV9, sharing the same E-GMP platform found in many Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models, but with its own distinct flair. All Ioniq 9 models pack a hefty 110.3 kWh battery. There are three configurations that suit different needs.

The entry-level Long Range RWD comes with a single motor at the rear, delivering 214 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It also offers up to 385 miles of range on the WLTP cycle when paired with 19-inch wheels.  If you’re after more muscle, the Long Range AWD adds a second motor up front, bringing the total output to 308 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque.

Then there’s the Performance model, which turns things up to 428 horsepower with dual motors. This version rockets from 0 to 62 mph in 5.2 seconds, making it the quickest of the lineup. No matter which model you choose, all versions can hit 124 mph and support ultra-fast charging, going from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes with a 350 kW charger. There’s even a vehicle-to-load feature so you can power appliances or gadgets directly from the car. Design-wise, the Ioniq 9 is a real head-turner.

Inspired by the SEVEN Concept, it sports Hyundai’s signature Parametric Pixel lighting and a sleek silhouette that manages an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.259 Cd, thanks in part to optional digital wing mirrors. In a unique move, Hyundai ditched the traditional roof antenna, instead integrating GPS into the windshield and FM/AM radio into the tailgate glass. Buyers can choose from a palette of 16 colors and wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches, including a stunning set of 21-inch Calligraphy wheels for the top-end look.

Inside, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 immediately feels like a sanctuary. Its long 123.2-inch wheelbase creates a roomy interior perfect for road trips, with eco-friendly materials like recycled PET fabric, wool blends, and sustainably processed leather. Available in six- or seven-seat configurations, the second-row seats even swivel, adding a touch of luxury and practicality. Up front, a curved screen houses both a 12-inch digital cluster and a 12-inch infotainment display, with small green LEDs on the steering wheel that show the remaining battery charge.

Audio lovers can upgrade from the standard eight-speaker system to a premium 14-speaker setup from Bose, while multiple USB-C ports powered by the main battery ensure everyone’s devices stay charged. Safety is a big deal here, too. The Ioniq 9 comes with Hyundai’s full suite of advanced safety tech, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance, Lane Keeping Assist, and Safe Exit Warning. Ten airbags are standard, offering peace of mind for every passenger.
