Haval, a subsidiary of Great Wall Motors Company, has unveiled the cutting-edge H5 generation in China, marking a significant addition to the full-size SUV segment. Sporting a larger footprint compared to its predecessor, the new H5 packs an impressive set of features without breaking the bank.

The Affordable SUV: Priced at an astonishingly low 16,830 USD, the new H5 becomes one of the most budget-friendly options in its class.

Styling and Design: Sharing ladder-frame underpinnings with Great Wall’s King Kong Cannon pickup, the H5 inherits strong visual references while setting itself apart with a chrome-infused grille, round wheel arches, and a closed rear section.

Size and Measurements: As per Car News China, the H5 spans 204.3 inches in length, 75 inches in width, 72 inches in height, and a wheelbase of 123.6 inches. Interestingly, the American Toyota Sequoia outstrips the H5 by only 3.8 inches, whereas the new H5 surpasses its predecessor by a considerable 21.3 inches.

Engine and Transmission Options: The H5 offers a choice between a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine, with output options of 188 HP or 215 HP, and a 164 HP turbodiesel. Transmission is either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic, with power sent to the rear wheels or a 4WD system in higher-spec trims.

Interior and Layout: Despite its generous dimensions, the new H5 comes exclusively in a 5-seater layout, unlike the shorter Haval H9 that offers both 5 and 7-seat configurations. The sizable boot, extending to 74.7 inches when rear seats are folded, offers ample space for camping or other activities.
