INEOS Grenadier Scheduled To Arrive In The United States In 2023

INEOS Grenadier is a boxy off-road SUV that looks a lot like the original Land Rover Defender and was unveiled last summer. Jim Ratcliffe, the owner of the British chemical business INEOS, was a major Defender fan, and when the classic Defender was discontinued, he attempted to purchase the rights.

Ratcliffe created a back-to-basics SUV with sturdy axles and locking differentials that replicated the squared-off Defender's design when Land Rover refused to bite. After a legal struggle proved that Land Rover did not have exclusive ownership for Defender's design, INEOS started building the Grenadier.

According to Edmunds, INEOS is actively analyzing dealer networks to collaborate with and may partner with more than one dealer company. When sales begin in 2023, the Grenadier will only come with one engine option: a 3.0-liter inline-six from BMW. INEOS partnered with Magna Steyr on the development and testing of the ZF gearbox. A five-year/60,000-mile warranty may be offered in the future, according to Clark.

The Grenadier will be made in Austria. The first INEOS SUVs will be delivered to European consumers next summer. Production for the US market will start in early 2023, with delivery by year's end. Preorders began today for the 75,000 early registrants and will open to the public in two weeks. No word yet on how much the INEOS Grenadier will cost in America.
