Indian's FTR x RSD Super Hooligan: Revving Up Flat Track Heritage

When was the last time someone riding something other than an Indian won the top class in the American Flat Track Series?

That would be in 2016, when Harley-Davidson interrupted a four-year series of Indian dominance, which Indian improved since then with the actual seven-year series.

Indian

The only “basic” motorcycle built by Indian is the FTR, a bare car with 1.200 cmc wheels inspired by the company’s FTR 750 flat track. The brand connected with Roland Sands Design, and sent an FTR in R Carbon for a change named FTR x RSD Super Hooligan to the Long Beach, California, customized store.

Indian

The FTR is so full of special equipment that the RSD doesn’t have much to do. The standard setup for MSRP costs around 19.000 USD and includes three riding modes, Brembo front and rear brakes, cruise control, red wheels, and Ohlins front and rear suspension. In addition, Indian added bar-end weights, and Gilles Tooling sold as options in the factory configurator.

The “Indian” logo on the tank comes from the racing bikes, while the sponsor logos on the seat cowl appear for those who help pay the bills.

Courtesy of the eye-catching elements such as the golden accents on wheels and black metallic paint for the body, the RSD package definitely  stands out. The exhaust system is now an Akrapovic unit with a heat shield.

Indian

The light makeover may be the reason this bike is worth 1.250 USD more than an FTR R Carbon. Moreover, when we tried to configure a stock FTR Carbon as close to an FTR x RSD Super Hooligan, our concept bike reached an 18.819 USD price tag.

Indian

Indian produces only 300 units for worldwide usage, each with an individually numbered nameplate.
