2022 Hyundai Tucson is an ongoing mystery, though its promising new specifications to promise to be one of the SUV's that are worth waiting for. The official launch is scheduled for this summer and everyone is eager to find out more about it. Here's a little detailed heads-up for the future Hyundai Tucson's stacks.

First of all, this is the fourth generation Tucson SUV that will be available in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants and is a promising one regarding its improved fuel economy for the non-hybrid guise. So far, Hyundai revealed that the gas-only version has better fuel economy ratings than any of the previous versions.

The Tucson based-on SE platform with front-wheel-drive is powered by the 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated I-4 engine that according to its EPA's fuel-economy ratings gives a 26 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined - this is already more compared to previous FWD Tucson models.

2022 Hyundai Tucson with AWD and the same 2.5-liter EPA rating are encouraging with 24 city, 29 highway, and 26 combined mpg. The hybrid Tucson is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 paired to a six-speed automatic engine, an electric motor, and a 1.49-kWh battery,  promises 38 mpg across the board, city/highway/combined.

Though no further EPA rating details were revealed yet for the PHEV variant. We know so far, that the plug-in model will have a 13.8 kWh battery and the same 1.6-liter engine. The battery would give the plug-in hybrid Tucson an additional 28 miles of range. The prices for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson vary from $26,135 for the gas-only version up to $30,235 for the hybrid model.

These fuel-economy and powertrain improvements could make the Hyundai Tucson a true market competitor for the Nissan Rogue and Toyota RAV4 SUVs.
