Hyundai Made the Elantra N Less Flashy — Without Taking Away Any Performance

Red trim and big wings aren’t for everyone. Hyundai knows this, and its new Elantra N Monochrome takes a different approach to the sporty sedan. The bright red accents are gone, replaced by body-colored details, black forged wheels, and matching brake calipers. It’s a cleaner look for drivers who want the performance without all the visual noise.
The Monochrome comes in two colors: Abyss Black Pearl and Performance Blue.

Hyundai also offers an Upper Trim version for buyers who want something extra. It gets a redesigned carbon-fiber rear wing and matching mirror caps, though the wing is smaller than the one fitted to the Elantra N TCR race car. Inside, Alcantara covers the seats, steering wheel, door panels, and center armrest. Light-blue stitching adds contrast, while black buttons keep the cabin in line with the darker theme.

There’s no extra power hiding under the hood. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine still delivers 286 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can pair it with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, both sending power to the front wheels. The suspension and chassis also remain unchanged, so this edition is about style rather than improved lap times.

Hyundai says the idea came from customers who wanted a less flashy N model. The Monochrome will first reach South Korea, Canada, and Australia, with other markets to follow. It could also hint at the brand’s planned N Lite range, which is expected to sit between the full N models and the N Line lineup.
A new-generation Elantra N is expected in 2027, making this special edition a possible send-off for the current car. Until then, it offers a simple alternative: the same performance, with less red shouting for attention.
