Hydrogen-Powered BMW X5 Need More Condition To Bring Green Cars On The Markets

It seems like all the big brands are delaying or planning to release their cars later next year. BMW is no exception from this new trend. The BMW i Hydrogen NEXT is expected on the market soon, but the manufacturer decided to produce the model in small series production later next year. Better small amounts of cars than nothing, right.

It’s known that the i Hydrogen NEXT is based on the X5 model, featuring two carbon fiber reinforced plastic tanks capable of carrying a total of 13.2 lbs (6 kg) of hydrogen. But BMW promised a bigger range comparable to petrol-powered variants.

The hydrogen-fueled cars work on the concept of using the H to generate electricity, releasing in the air ecological water vapors. Their cars offer a quicker refueling time when compared to the electric ones. For the i Hydrogen NEXT, the amount of the liquid will power its rear-mounted electric motor and deliver up to 369 horsepower and an extra dose of dynamics when overtaking or accelerating.

This still might seem a futuristic idea for many car fans and developers because other problems surfaced along – the lack of hydrogen that is selected accordingly to the environmental regulations and obtaining “green hydrogen” is still lacking on the market making its price rocketing.

Now, with the identified problem, BMW appealed to both Germany and European Union to recognize the significance of green hydrogen for the energy system of the future. They also made the same official note keys in countries such as China, Japan, and South Korea where there a bigger interest in establishing infrastructure for hydrogen vehicles.

If the result will be accordingly as planned - the awareness will bring conditions for developing hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and BMW will meet all the global market conditions and requirements, we could expect the i Hydrogen NEXT in the second half of this decade according to BMW Group.
