High School Students Created Future RAM Pickups In A Virtual Design Contest

In the run-up to its Drive for Design contest, in which high school students were challenged with designing the RAM "vehicle of the future," Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced the results of an online sketch battle.

FCA invited all pupils to a virtual sketch fight on Facebook and Instagram in the time leading up to the amateur league, where they were challenged to produce the wickedest and most ridiculous concepts for a RAM truck, with finalists chosen by FCA designers Ralph Gilles and Mark Trostle.

The contestants provided several intriguing concepts, including electrified pickups, future off-roaders, a ‘Power Wagon' idea, and a couple of designs suggestive of the Tesla Cybertruck, as well as a rather accurate portrayal of a Dodge Challenger-based pick-up, with over 200 applications.

The Drive for Design challenge, unlike the open-entry sketch competition, is only open to high school students and will award winners with prize packs and an exclusive winner's supper with the FCA design team. Funding for a summer program at the College for Creative Studies is also available, as well as a trip to Detroit to tour the FCA design studios.
