The third-gen of Flying-Spur has been one of Bentley’s historical highlights back in 2019, with Mulsanne getting on the bench. Now the range is expanding and the current V8 and W12 powertrains are joined by a bold Flying Spur Hybrid. This is the carmaker’s second plug-in hybrid and it promises to be the most efficient one so far.

2022 Bentley Flying Spur Plug-in Hybrid V6 is powered by a 2.9-liter V6 engine, delivering 410 hp and 550 Nm of torque. Powered with an additional 134 hp electric motor, the combined power reaches 536 hp at 750 Nm of torque. That is 95 hp than what Bentayga Hybrid can deliver. This power speeds up to the first 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, at a maximum speed of 285 km/h.

The aerodynamic body shape is another reason why this specific model is said to be Bentley’s most efficient model ever. It ensures the autonomy of over 700 km. The lithium-ion battery of 14.1 kWh covers 40 km (25 miles), which is compliant with upcoming EU WLTP standards. As for North America, this figure can decrease to below 20 miles, because of the EPA strict testing process. The battery takes 2.5 hours till fully charged. The car comes with a Bentley-branded wall box for charging.

The exterior design included exterior badges embellishing the quad-oval tailpipes, front fenders, and the charging port. Future 2022 Bentley Flying Spur Plug-in Hybrid V6 owners will be able to choose from 60 exterior colors, with 7 standard options. Blackline Specification can be also chosen for replacing the chrome details with black finishing, with the Flying B hood ornament illuminated on top.

Running on standard 20-inch wheels, future owners will get the chance to ditch them in favor of optional 21- or 22-inch Mulliner-design wheels.

As for the car’s interior, it’s exactly as you’d expect: fancy, with high-quality materials, lots of comfort, and that Bentley-like luxury feeling. There is a new E-Modes button replacing the start-stop switch. It grants access to choosing between Hold Mode, Hybrid Mode, and EV Drive mode.

New graphics are displayed on the cluster and infotainment system, providing information on the available range and battery level. There is a wide series of services connected to the driver’s smartphone, coming with insights on comfort characteristics, charging state, or car statistics.

2022 Bentley Flying Spur Plug-in Hybrid V6 is part of the carmaker’s commitment to the Beyond100 strategy. Its goal is to become an end-to-end carbon-neutral organization. The model will be available for ordering as of this summer, with the first cars delivered by the end of the year.
