This GWM’s 800 HP Hybrid SUV Comes in Just 500 Units

It feels like GWM started with a simple question. What happens if you take a big luxury SUV and just push one theme all the way? The answer is this.

The Tank 500 Black Warrior is limited to 500 units, priced at ¥365,000 CNY, around $50,600. It is based on the regular model, but everything is turned dark. Grille, wheels, and trim are all black. Then those red brake calipers cut through it, almost like a small detail you are not meant to miss.

Inside, it follows the same idea. Mostly black, with red accents and a bit of chrome to break it up. A 14.6-inch screen sits at the center, along with the usual displays, so it still feels up to date.

Then you get to the powertrain, and it is not what you expect. For something this big, you would think of a large engine. Instead, it uses a plug-in hybrid setup with a 2.0-liter turbo and electric motors, which explains how it reaches those high power numbers.

In its strongest form, it goes past 800 horsepower, which is a big number for a large SUV. There is also a simpler version with one motor, a 9-speed hybrid system, a 37.1 kWh battery, and 402 horsepower, still sending power to all four wheels.

Other blacked-out versions exist, but this one is limited to 500 units, so it stands out more. When you put it together, it follows a clear idea. It mixes size, luxury, off-road ability, and high power in one package. It is not built for one purpose but to cover several at once.
