From Concept To Reality: Alpine's CEO Confirms Plans For Alpenglow Hy4

Alpine has some exciting news to share! By 2028, it's not out of the question that a production version of the insane Aplenglow Hy4 will debut. This outlandish idea recently had a test run at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Last month, Alpine's head of design hoped that the Alpenglow Hy4 would become a road-legal version.

It turns out that Philippe Krief, chief executive officer of Alpine, is keen on seeing it constructed. In a recent interview with Piston Heads, Philippe Krief expressed his commitment to seeing it through to completion. Alpenglow is essential when it comes to researching styles, technology, and the brand itself.

“Alpenglow is important for styling research, it’s important for technology, but it’s important for the brand. It’s really important. By doing Alpenglow, we will show that we are able to play on the ground of the big guys. I think if everything is fine, I think that by 2028 you will be able to buy one.”

A 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with 335 horsepower powers the Hy4 concept. While Alpine is diligently working on a more potent hydrogen V6 for the model, Krief does concede that the hydrogen storage tank could be problematic.

“For cars, the tank could be an issue, but there are some technologies arriving that are talking about tank polymorph forms.”  Prior to the Hy4's release, Alpine will introduce an all-electric variant of the A110.
