French Police Are Having New Alpine A110s Pursuit Vehicles

French police have received the first two of 26 Alpine A110 vehicles that will be used as quick intervention vehicles during the following four years. In June 2021, the French Ministry of the Interior issued a request for new cars to automobile manufacturers, and Alpine was immediately given the contract.

The first two specially outfitted Alpine A110 cars have already been shipped, and they have a unique livery, reflective markings, flashing lights, and a variety of other enhancements. The Alpine A110s will be used mostly on highways for high-speed traffic violations.

In addition, two of the 26 units will be utilized for training. Over the years, France's police have employed a range of different Alpine and Renault vehicles. These include the classic A110, which was produced from 1966 to 1973, the A310, which was produced from 1973 to 1987, and the Renault Megane RS, which has been in operation for the past decade.

The modern Alpine A110 is powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 249 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. It has a peak speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) and can achieve 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds. In October, Alpine confirmed the agreement with France's National Gendarmerie police force. Alpine A110 cars will be employed until 2025 when they will most likely be substituted by one of the automaker's next electric models.
