Ford Ka could be left without descendants!

Ford Ka has an uncertain future ahead. According to Automotive News business magazine, the representatives of the American company consider the elimination of the Ka model from the Ford portfolio at the end of the model life cycle, because this car is not profitable and cannot be included in the One Ford strategy, since it is manufactured only at the Fiat factory from Tychy, Poland. Compared to Fiat 500, Ford Ka does not have clients interested in personalization and this affects the profit of the American manufacturer when selling it.

Martin Smith, the head of design department Ford of Europe explained that Ford has more options in regards to Ka model; whether we are talking about eliminating this model form the portfolio, or about finding a partner that would supply a model which could be sold worldwide in the same form.

The first generation of Ford Ka did not receive a facelift during its 12 years of career, which helped those from Ford get a constant volume of sales during the whole life cycle of the model. Ford is preparing a similar strategy for the current Ka model, a facelift being not the best investment for a model that does not bring profit.
