Ford Announced Its Plans Towards An EV Future

Ford officially announced its plans towards the dedicated electric vehicle platforms, the development of the new IonBoost batteries, and more details about the brand’s future electric vehicles. Also, the automaker continues to invest more than $30 (£21.2 / €24.6) billion by 2025 into electrification.

Ford admits that accepting the EV trend will take serious reimagination of its vehicle’s architecture. It’ll take new platforms able to share battery cells, battery management systems, motors, and gearboxes along with other “cross vehicle technologies”.

Ford’s new RWD / AWD BEV Flexible Architecture will allow the brand to offer its customers active lifestyle vehicles with great driving dynamics, cargo vehicles, mid-size trucks, rugged SUVs, and 2- and 3-row crossovers. Expect electric versions of the Explorer and Lincoln Aviator. There are rumors for the electric Ranger and Bronco variants.

The European customers will enjoy the Ford vehicles delivered build via its partnership with Volkswagen since the market preferences go towards smaller vehicles. To deliver the best battery pack available, Ford joined withBlueOvalSK to build them.

Their latest projects are the IonBoost lithium-ion batteries, IonBoost Pro lithium iron phosphate batteries, and long-range, low-cost solid-state batteries. There are even confirmed rumors about the new generations IonBoost+. So, by 2030 Ford will most likely embrace fully the electric vehicle trend.
