For The First Time, Rodin Cars Of New Zealand Brings Their FZED To Donington Park

Rodin Cars, a small New Zealand automobile company, recently brought its single-seat FZED to Donington Park to honor the opening of its new client site in the UK.

Rodin FZED was launched two years ago and is inspired by the Lotus T125, an F1-spec racer that Lotus launched in 2011 intending to sell to consumers, but only a few were produced.

A 3.8-liter Cosworth GPV8 engine produces 675 hp at 9,600 rpm and 361 lb-ft (490 Nm) of torque at 7,600 rpm. The car also has a considerably greater power-to-weight ratio than the Bugatti Chiron and even a sports bike like the Yamaha R1, weighing only 1,342 lbs (609 kg). It has a top speed of 99 mph (160 km/h) and can accelerate to 186 mph (300 km/h) in just 5 seconds. 

Liam Lawson, a Red Bull Junior driver, was at the wheel of the FZED at Donington Park. Lawson commented, "It was amazing to be back in the Rodin FZED. I'd forgotten how fast the car is, but I immediately felt at ease and recognized how easy it is to drive it near to the limit. I didn't want to quit, so I did about as many laps as I was allowed.”

The event was significant for Rodin Cars, since it marked the first time FZED had been tested on a racetrack, with the majority of its development taking place on New Zealand circuits.
