First HWA EVO Restomod Mercedes 190E To Be Auctioned For Over $1 Million

Last year, one of the "original" AMG founders developed and unveiled the HWA EVO, a restomod Mercedes 190E. News has now spread that the Concours of Elegance Germany will auction off the first vehicle, chassis 000, at RM Sotheby's Tegernsee on July 27th. We are now distributing the remaining 100 units to consumers who have submitted their applications.

After factoring in the HWA EVO's basic price of 714,000 euros (including VAT), or over $780,000, we can't see chassis 000 selling for anything less than £1,000,000. Chassis 000, the official design for the subsequent automobiles, will take precedence among the 100 cars that HWA will hand-build.

The new owner will receive signed copies of certain documents, while the HWA archive will preserve the originals along with extensive transaction documentation. We can't deny that the bodywork of the HWA EVO—created by the talented Khyzyl Saleem looks just amazing. Contrary to popular belief, HWA is not dismantling authentic 190E 2.5-16 Evo II vehicles but rather regular 190Es. After a rigorous repair procedure, HWA will retrofit each vehicle with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, most likely sourced from an old AMG C43, that produces 444 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque.

HWA EVO

HWA will position the powertrain behind the front axle to ensure a balanced weight distribution, and it will exclusively transmit its torque to the back wheels through a manual gearbox, specifically a six-speed transaxle. The Affalterbach package, according to the leaked order records, may increase outputs to 493 horsepower. Performance tires will shoe large wheels with 15-inch front and 14.2-inch rear brake discs, and HWA's double wishbone suspension at each corner will help fine-tune the handling balance.

HWA EVO

HWA has also included lightweight carbon fiber bodywork to help the EVO reach its goal weight of 2,976 pounds. No other model will be as unique as chassis 000, although the company is still taking orders from the general public. First customers will get their orders by the year 2025.
