Finally, The Dodge Challenger Black Ghost With 807 Horsepower Is Here

It's official: Dodge has unveiled the second-to-last Last Call limited edition, and it lives up to the hype. Only 300 of the Dodge Challenger Black Ghost cars will ever be made. It is based on the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, but with an increase in power to 807 horsepower.

Still, the Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is more than simply a muscle car, as it pays tribute to the company's racing heritage. It was heavily influenced by Godfrey Quails' legendary 1970 Dodge Challenger RT SE, a vehicle icon on Woodward Avenue. It had a 426 Hemi V8 engine and was known for its unbeatable performance.

The vehicle invariably vanished into the night after beating its victim. Quails, a Detroit police officer, was required to keep the street racing a tight secret, which led to the "Black Ghost" moniker for his vehicle. Due to the car's legendary status, it was included in the National Historic Vehicle Register in 2020. The original automobile is still in the possession of the Quails family.

“There are so many legendary muscle cars in Dodge brand history, it was hard to choose the seven vehicles we wanted to pay homage to with our Last Call lineup, but the Black Ghost was an easy pick,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer at Stellantis.

To celebrate the legacy, the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost receives a gator skin roof sticker to resemble the original's gator skin vinyl roof. Other historical details include a white rear fender graphic, Challenger grille writing, and spoiler badges.

The Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is a sixth of seven Last Call special edition Dodges, joining the Dodge Challenger Shakedown, Charger Super Bee, Challenger and Charger Scat Pack Swinger, and Dodge Charger King Daytona. The final Last Call special edition won't be shown until the 2022 SEMA show, which takes place in Las Vegas from November 1 to 4, so we have to wait.
