Fiat Titano: New Power Player Takes on the Midsize Truck World

Hey truck fans, there's a new player on the block! The Fiat Titano is rolling out in Latin America and Africa, and it's ready to shake things up in the midsize truck segment. While we in the States are missing out on this one, the Titano, a fresh take on the Peugeot Landtrek, is more than just a new badge on an old face.

It's got its roots in the Changan Kaicene F70, a Chinese pickup that's been around since 2019.

Let's talk specs. The Titano, named with a nod to Greek mythology like its rival, the Nissan Titan, is launching in Algeria with a 1.9-liter diesel engine. This beast packs 150 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. And for those who like a hands-on driving experience, it comes with a six-speed manual gearbox.

It's not just about power, though; this truck can haul up to 2,667 pounds. Over in Brazil, they're upping the ante with a 2.2-liter diesel engine, cranking out 200 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque.

What about options? In Algeria, you can choose between a practical single cab with a 4x2 drive or go big with a double cab and 4x4, offering room for five. Meanwhile, our pals in Brazil will get the four-door model, making the most out of Uruguay's Nordex factory production lines.

Now, before you get too excited, let's be real: it's unlikely the Titano will hit U.S. roads. But, we're still holding out hope for the Ram Rampage, another midsize truck that might grace our shores.

Rich Boyer, UAW Vice President, hinted that Stellantis might just be cooking something up in their Belvidere, Illinois, factory.

So, while we might not get to hop into a Titano ourselves, it's a cool reminder of how diverse the truck world is. Each market has its own flavor, and the Titano is Fiat's way of saying, "We get it, and we're here for it." Here's to hoping we see more of this global truck spirit in the future!
