Fiat Scudo And Ulysse Are Back As Tiny Van And MPV

Fiat has unveiled two new vehicles, a van, and an MPV, both carrying the names of previous Fiat models. The Ulysse MPV, which shares its name with the famous people carrier that was made in the same facility in Hordain, France from 1994 to 2002, will seat 6, 7, or 9 persons in various configurations.

On the other hand, Fiat Talento is replaced by the Scudo, a commercial variant named after another former Hordain-built Fiat. It will be offered in single and crew cab configurations, with a flat back loadbed as an alternative.

These vans will be constructed on Stellantis' EV-capable EMP2 architecture, which is already utilized by the Peugeot Expert and Traveller, Citroen Dispatch and Spacetourer, and other vehicles. Fiat has yet to disclose powertrain specs, but identical electric cars from its related companies employ a single front-mounted engine with 134 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque, allowing them to go from 0 to 62 mph in 13.1 secs and reach a max speed of 80 mph.

A 50kWh battery provides power, with a range of 143 miles, and the ability to charge at 100kW. Similar to the other models, Fiat will be available with an option of conventional combustion engines or a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain with a stated range of 249 miles.

As part of Stellantis' long-term electrification strategy, the company plans to sell 70% of its vehicles in Europe and 40% in the United States as low-emissions models by 2030.
